Veterinary Exam

We recommend your furry friends come in for a veterinary exam once a year. However, depending on your pet’s overall health and age, we may need to see them more frequently. For example, puppies and kittens see us regularly during the first few months of their lives and senior pets visit at least twice a year.

What is a veterinary exam?

A veterinary exam is an opportunity for our team to stay up-to-date with your furry family member’s health. Your pet can age at a fast rate between visits so it’s essential to maintain regular appointments so we’re aware of any changes to their health. The goal of this checkup is to assess your pet’s overall health and make modifications to their wellness plan. What should my pet expect?

A veterinary exam includes a combination of procedures to check up on your pet’s overall health. This includes a physical exam to check their coat, mobility, heart rate, weight, skin and vision. A veterinary exam also includes assessing the following to create individualized recommendations to help your pet maintain their overall health:

• Exercise and activity levels
• Bowel movements
• Nutrition
• Vaccination plan
• Parasite control
• Oral health

How should I prepare for the veterinary exam?

It’s helpful to share any observations you’ve made about your pet during your daily interactions. Even subtle changes in their behaviour or routines can influence the care they receive. It’s also a great time to ask any questions about their growth and development, especially if your furry family member is transitioning from one stage of life to the next.
