These tools help confirm diagnoses we’ve made based on your pet’s symptoms and external exam or give us new insight into any newly detected health conditions. What’s the difference between X-rays and ultrasounds?

Both technologies allow us to better examine your pet’s internal organs and bones. X-rays use electromagnetic radiation whereas ultrasounds use sound waves to generate images. X-ray technology has evolved to use less radiation when capturing images of your pet’s body. Digital X-ray and ultrasound machines are connected to computers, which allow us to see the images almost instantly. This speeds up the time we’re able to deliver your pet’s results and discuss a diagnosis with you.

What can you see with them?

Depending on the area of your pet’s body, an X-ray or ultrasound is better suited to capture the image. These tools help us capture images of:
